Today, yet another high-end Sony smartphone has been announced. This time around it's the Xperia Z4v, a modified version of the Xperia Z4 and Xperia Z3+ that will be available exclusively on Verizon Wireless.

The Xperia Z4v is largely the same as the Xperia Z4/Z3+. It features the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage (plus a microSD card slot), the same 20.7-megapixel camera with an f/2.0 lens, the same five megapixel selfie camera, and the same IP65/68 water resistance.

What has changed is that the Xperia Z4v packs a 5.2-inch 2560 x 1440 display, which is a resolution upgrade on the 5.2-inch 1080p panel in the Xperia Z3+. There is also a slightly larger 3,000 mAh battery, and like many of Verizon's smartphones, it supports Qi wireless charging.

The increased battery capacity and inclusion of wireless charging has made the Xperia Z4v larger than the Xperia Z3+: Verizon's exclusive handset is 8.6mm thick and weighs 160 grams, compared to the Xperia Z3+'s 6.9mm thick body weighing in at 144 grams.

The Sony Xperia Z4v on Verizon will be available "this summer" in either black or white. There's no word on exactly how much the device will cost, but expect it to receive a flagship-level price tag.
