I am looking to buy a brand new gaming PC. What I have configured thus far has two NVIDIA 7900 GTXs. Should I wait for DX10 type cards?
This might sound really stupid but I thought Direct X was just a software application that came with games to enable them to run on a variety of systems. Any guidance or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Heres the stats on the rig I am planning on getting;

CPU. Athlon 64 X2 4600+ (Dual Core / 2.4GHz / L2=512KB x2 / AM2)
Memory. 2GB DDR2 SDRAM (PC6400 / 1GB x2)
HDD. 250GB Serial ATA HDD (7200rpm)
2nd HDD. 250GB Serial ATA HDD (7200rpm)
M/B. ASUS NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI MCP Chipset ATX Form
G.C. NVIDIA Geforce 7900GTX 512MB x2 (SLI)
O.D. Super Multi DVD Drive (DVD±Rx16/-R DLx4/+R DLx6/-RAMx5 DVDx16/CDx40)
S.C. CREATIVE SoundBlaster AUDIGY4 Digital Audio (PCI)

Well when DX 10 comes out not many games will have DirectX 10 support yet. And as to those two video cards they sound good. And your sound card recommend you get the Sound Blaster X-Fi line of better yet a Sound Card that supports Dolby Digital Live which has surround sound for games. I personally think sounds better than EAX. And you could maybe hook up your hard drives in RAID Mode.
