got a brand new hp laptop w/vista home in it.
got a new copy of xp pro and tried a clean installation from the os cd.
problem: i get a blue screen w/error oxoooooo7b just after it tells me it is starting windows.
i tried to reformat the c partition, but no luck. any clues?

Your system has SATA drive, in the BIOS what is the settings for SATA Native support?

EDIT: Doesn't hurt to include your HP model, how much RAM and XP Pro 32bit or 64bit :)

the model is g70-250us. ram is 3 gig the xp pro says f.32 under bios I would guess that means it is 32 bit, but I can't find any place that says 32 bit.

I try to look at the manual and BIOS settings but I'm leaving soon, what options do you have for SATA as in set to RAID/ IDE or Native support enabled or disabled in the BIOS?

Did you add the RAM or did it come with 3GB?

F32 is most probably the BIOS version, if your XP Pro is 64bit, you will have to install XP with no more than 2GB of RAM then do all Windows Updates in Custom mode then add the rest of the RAM.
