Weekend Open Forum: What's the oldest part of your PC?

I built my current PC last summer. The oldest part in it right now is probably the ram, per release date (DDR4 Vengeance LPX first hit the market around 2014, IIRC), unless the 850 Evo SSDs came out earlier.

My wife destroyed 3 PCs I've build, so almost everything in my gaming rig is not older than a year...

You, my friend, need a lawyer...overclocked.

My oldest I decommissioned last year 9yr old 32inch Toshiba 1080p TV. Was that a ghost?!

My current oldest, still the display.A 5yr old 50inch LG 1080p TV, I replaced the backlight before a friend was going to throw it away. I sit the same distance as a normal monitor, yeah its awful, taking monitor donations.

My CyberPower ATX case bought in 2002, still using, fixed defective front USB, added front panel audio by taking the front panel audio assembly from another case and plug in the plugs from front panel.

Gotta be my Cooler Master HAF X case. Think that's about 7 years old now and weighs as much as a tank.

The oldest "part" I'm currently using, is an entire eMachines T-5026, which will turn 13, next Valentine's Day. Still going "strong" (*), I might add!

Other than a new DVD drive, and some constantly migrating HDDs, the "newest part" on the machine, is an Antec EA-380 "Earthwatts" PSU (**), which in itself is in excess of ten years old. Noteworthy is the fact that the OEM HDD is still in it, as the "C/:" drive. It's a WD "Blue" 160GB SATA I (!) (I think WD called their "Blue" models "Caviar" way back then).

As far as my newest project goes, (i5-6600K- X170), The oldest part is the case I took from another rig, an original CM "Storm Scout" model, and the copy of Windows 7 Pro 64bit SP1, I had laying around for a few years as well.

(*) "Strong", is a relative term when discussing an Intel P-4 519 single core "Prescott").

(**) The Antec EA-380 was a warranty replacement for an earlier 350 model which was discontinued. As expected, the original eMachines Bestec failed within a few months, as did, surprise, surprise, the Antec I replaced it with. The Bestec was a 300 watt model, which was courteous enough to simply die, without taking the motherboard out with it. (y)

Now I have a question. Since my eMachines is at or near the age of puberty, will it start to grow hair or fur like the computer in the article?

Me, the user.
In my case? I am the oldest part.
A pity that this question was asked while I was still soundly asleep because of the time zone. I would've said exactly the same thing without a moment's hesitation but you forgot to add that you're still the most "future proof" part of it which you never intend to upgrade or replace.

I do intend to "upgrade" myself with more knowledge and experience and eventually... bionic implants :D

In my main rig a 300GB Western Digital VelociRaptor from 2008. It's RAID-0'd with another one from 2011. It's more or less my tertiary performance partition.

Were I going to "have work done", I think I'd cater more to my baser instincts, rather than my higher thought processes. First off, I'd have an artificial stainless steel prostate installed. (It couldn't enlarge over time), and then perhaps a few extra inches, in what I'm going to call, "an undisclosed location".

To become the next $18 million dollar man. You've gotta allow for inflation from the last 6 million dollar man who I think was Lee Majors back in the 70's.

My trusty SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 1TB HDD. It's been chugging along for the last 6 - 7 years.

The expression, "I'mma firin' my lazar" comes to mind.

There was a "Bionic Woman", the "6 Million Dollar Man's" former girlfriend. They didn't put a price tag up in her name, because ostensibly, most women believe money is no object, when it comes to their looks... "To price her, would be equivalent to objectifying her". God knows we couldn't have that, now could we"
