Weekend Open Forum: What's your favorite video game of all time?

It's Battlefield 2 or Elder Scrolls Morrowind. Both were the best of their series. BF2 to this day is an amazing game to play, truly a masterpiece of gaming in my opinion that really makes you feel you are apart a of a real epic large scale battle. Morrowind was so immerse, it's insane. It brings an alien world to life, even to this day I found stuff I never saw before the game was that large.

I used to play a lot of memorable games on my older pc/mac.

Redneck Rampage
Quarantine
Duke Nukem 3d
Doom Series
Carmageddon
Destruction Derby
Jazz Jackrabbit
Terminal Velocity
C&C
Warcraft 1/2
Big Red Racing
Raptor
Commander Keen
Police Quest Series
Kings Quest Series
Castles (1991 edition)
Crystal Quest (Mac SE II)
Cycles (Mac SE II)

But I have also played games for NES/Sega Genesis/32x/Sega CD/SNES/Gameboy/Virtual Boy/Neo Geo Pocket/Game Gear/N64/Sega Saturn/Panasonic 3DO/Psx/Dreamcast/GameCube/Ps2/PSP/Xbox/Xbox360/3Ds/Modern PC games

And I feel like ive missed a few systems somewhere...

How can I pick a favorite game from all that?? Cant be done...cant be done.. the list would be wayy too long to pick from.

I'm going to have to go with Chrono Trigger here, I love many, many games...(a lot of them have already been mentioned) but generally when somebody asks for my favorite game I have to go to it.

:O

Redneck Rampage and Terminal Velocity! I didn't know anyone actually remembers those games anymore. I dropped months into terminal velocity.. and Redneck Rampage was a great shooter for laughs as well. Good times..

Star Control II (Ur-Quan Masters for you noobs...) Forget that it was made before most of you were born. Just play it.

It's crushingly hard to pick just one. My gaming days are pretty much 1987 to present, but the game that sticks out in my mind like crazy is Shining Force II (Genesis).

There are so many close 2nds, 3rds, 10ths (I wish the question was "pick one from every platform and OS")..... but that game is a damn masterpiece. It's too bad it fizzled with the Saturn and never made a comeback as a series, but damn it was awesome in its day.

My favorite single player game is tied between Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Favorite multiplayer game would probably have to be Super Smash Bros. on the N64.

By time invested, Counterstrike 1.6 is probably far and away the most played.

Idk wich one to chose, so I'll list my top games :
Witcher 2
Mass Effect 1
Morrowind
GTA San Andreas
Thief 1-2
Garry's Mod

No "favourite game", but there are some games I remember fondly. Not a comprehensive list in any way, just what crossed my mind at the moment:

The Sentinel (C64)
Nine Princes in Amber (C64)
Knightmare (Amiga)
Heroes of Might & Magic 3
Planescape: Torment
Neverwinter Nights
Unreal Tournament 2003
City of Heroes

Nascar Racing series by papyrus. Played it for 11 years before quitting--I just don't have the time any more to play like I need to in that game.

Wolfenstein Enemy territory...With over 5000 documented (xfire) hours of online playing time by myself since it's release. This has been my most played game ever and despite me having lots and lots of games that I paid for, this free game was the one that I fired up day after day for years on end.
I still miss it, but there's no good servers left near me.
Runners up would be xcom enemy unknown and the original 8 bit Elite.

Too many years of gaming to choose just one, but if I had to it would probably be Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Also up on the list are:

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2
Doom (the original)
Wolfenstein 3D
Quake
Legend of Zelda (NES version)
Skyrim
Fallout 3
Diablo (Series)
Assassin's Creed (Series)
