Before troubleshooting, lets do some basic things.

1. Use windows check disk utility on all partitions

2. Run a virus and spyware scan.

An infrequent and little known cause of an Explorer crash is having the hidden files and folders showing.

This is an easy thing to check: Control Panel> Folder Options> View tab> make sure 'show hidden files and folders' is UNCHECKED. If it is not, uncheck it now> Apply> OK> Reboot.

See if that makes a difference. I came across that about a year ago when I was trying to find reason for my Explorer crashes!
