Bahhh, blind followers!
Tell us, what is your position/relationship at Microsoft? Your postings have always seemed a bit more than a simple consumer relationship. You always speak as if you have insight, the rest of us don't have.
I don't "follow" Microsoft...That shallow thinking is precisely what stirs the so called "fanboy" wars on the internet where, apparently, you can't have a different opinion, hold valid arguments, and not have any sort of 'allegiance' to brand or company. You see, however, I don't fall for such trivialities because even those who disagree with me, like yourself, often times, have no facts to prove me wrong. I take quite a bit of comfort in that.
And why do you assume I have a position/relationship with Microsoft? Is it because I don't pander to the insurmountable bickering from one or two hundred tech nerds about how horrible Windows 8 is?
If you take the liberty to read my posting history, you'll realize I'm perhaps the most unbiased user around here. Why? Because I don't associate myself with the companies that make the tools. I simply take the right tool for the job. I just happen to have a brother-in-law who does work for MS, and every now and then I ask him about what he can tell me. I'm not claiming to have any more 'inside' info than that.
Two points will keep me from moving on.
- Metro
- Lack of Aero
Both points are cosmetic issues. Neither one is an issue that should have been forced upon us.
- Metro could have been offered as a choice or at least offered with better cosmetics.
- Windows Aero could have been disabled with systems running on battery power. There was no need in Battery saving features within a desktop machine.
Those are legitimate, personal complaints. As long as you understand you're in the minority, not much to say here.
I don't have an issue with moving on for the sake of moving on. I'm just not gonna purchase a car I can't stand seeing in my driveway. This train of limited choice has ended for me, you can ride it out if you want. I may be a minority, and honestly the only thing that frightens me is the lack of choices elsewhere. I'm not here screaming for the train to stop. I'm standing here screaming for choices.
Don't know what else to tell you other than this sounds like a personal problem. You see, laws don't get passed based on the date; it takes majority consensus. Posting online about Windows 8 being horrible, telling your friends and family not to upgrade, will not change the fact that MS looks at their numbers. If people are buying, they'll keep supplying. And don't get me wrong, I don't 'like' Metro, but I'm not also going to sit and say it hinders my desktop experience. It doesn't. You CAN disagree (go back to my first paragraph's second sentence to see why you can).
It all really comes down to lack of familiarity and learning curve, things that come much, much easier to regular folks. You know, those who buy Dell laptops, iPods, who use Office for school. Regular people who have no idea what RAM is. These are the customers MS 'listens' to, not NeoGAF, TechSpot, or Twitter.
My brother-in-law has told me that the Start Menu is gone for good. Like thermonuclear good. The only reason the button was brought back was because enterprise wanted it. Surprisingly, even, businesses that have made the jump don't have that much of a problem with Metro, seeing how you really only see it 1% of the time. Take that however you want.
Now for the first time, I will ask if you. Are you someone who will stand in front of me and point blank say I don't have a right to ask for choice? Because that is exactly what kind of vibe I get every time someone comments the way you do.
Well, that's a weird question. We went from me being a blind follower, to giving the vibe of someone who claims people shouldn't ask for choice. All I'm saying is that the opinion of the minority does not matter, and that change is as inevitable as a train not stopping. Like the one that didn't stop in 1995 and now in 2013, ironically, some don't want to hop off of.
And I don't understand your last sentence... You imply I give you a vibe that I think you don't have a right to voice your opinion, and yet, you apparently could care less for the opinions of those who post like me. (You know, essentially those who disagree with you.)
It's like you're irony personified. Amazing.
