Windows ME running scandisk on startup

Ok heres my prob: every time I start up my lappy, it boots and all normally. when it gets to before windows loads up, scandisk always opens and says windows detected improper shutdown, and starts scanning the C: Drive. I shut down my laptop as proper as it can be shutdown but i still get this scandisk everytime the laptop comes on. What can I do to resolve this problem please? thanks

I believe this was a known issue with win98 and ME. Have you done all your windows updates? I think microsoft issued a fix for it.

I think i have it fixed now, Lol stupid me, I never let it get done with what it was trying to do. last night i let it scan and it doesnt do it anymore.
