Following work carried out on 2 server’s, both with Windows 2003 SE SP2 installed hosting Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SE, they now both unexpectedly reboot with no pattern to time of day. For what it’s worth each server hosts a different business application, one finance and one e-mail archiving.
On average they are rebooting once every 3 days however one has also rebooted up to 5 times in a single 24hr period.
The common factors regarding the work on both servers was the installation and configuration of NetApp SnapDrive and all the necessary pre-requisite Microsoft utilities and updates including:
a. Microsoft iSCSI Initiator Upgrade

Following examination of the System Event Log there is no error or warning entry prior to any of the unexpected reboots. It simply states for example:
Event ID 6008: The previous system shutdown at 16:22:11 on 28/12/2008 was unexpected.
I have myself spent a lot of time searching on the Internet, on the Microsoft website and NetApp’s but as yet I am unable to locate any information that fits this scenario. The only thing NetApp have come back with is that following a Google search it is related to a Microsoft driver.
Can I assume therefore that this issue may be as a result of one or more of the Microsoft pre-requisites as specified by NetApp for the SnapDrive installation.
I would really appreciate any help that you can provide and would like to discover the root cause particularly if it is indeed driver related.
