Windows will not show F drive

Hi
When I start my computer windows doesnt show my F drive
C drive has windows and all programs on
F drive [internal] has all my documents on
D drive is dvd cd
I have to keep rebooting until it appears...about one in fifteen
It isnt in disc management

how do I restore F drive instead of constantly rebooting and hoping for the best

Run error checking on the drive in question.

just to update F not showing at all now so unable to check.
is there any way to remove h.drive unit and check it with my laptop via usb connection???

you can get an IDE/SATA to USB connector and it will allow you to do just that. Something like this.

Thanks....ordered one off ebay.
Not too good at hardware but took cover off pc and fiddled with cable onto motherboard which seems loose and not a solid fit. seems to work at the moment...could be a dodgy pin??
anyhow going to set it up as external usb unit so can use with laptop too.
