Windows won't boot after bios was reset

I have a lenovo t61 and was having overheating problems. I wasn't convinced the fan was working as it had shut itself down a couple of times. Whilst looking for a solution I reset bios and now windows won't boot. When I start up it briefly blue screens and then asks if I want to enter start up repair. This fails to repair anything. It won't load safe mode and I can't see an obvious problem with bios settings. My of knowledge is all trial and error so I've got no clue here. Help!
