Windows XP blank screen with flashing cursor

I have a dell desktop that I was restarting after adding software (blackberry). During the restart in stalled with blank sreen & flashing cursor.

At that time there was a disk (blackberry software) in cd drive. I tried powering on several times ........same result.

Tried pushing F2 and/or F12 ............same result.

Tried no disk in cd drive ....... same result.

Tried Windows XP OS disk in cd drive ....... same result.

I'm on my work laptop now and can't down load software on it.

Any one got ideas?

Have you run any hardware scans at all?

I would suggest running a integrity check on your hard drive first of all

Another quick question, can you boot into safemode?

Finally booted.......not in safe mode

I dont' know how or why

did the same thing last week

when it was stuck it would not boot in safe or with OS disk

I would suggest still running scans on your hardware, nothing worse then it happening again just when you need it.

At least you should have a better idea of the problem.

Run the scan with seatools that I suggested in the previous post and also schedule a checkdisk to make sure your file structure isnt corrupt by:

Start > Run > Type cmd > Type chkdsk /f /r > Type Y.

Next time you reboot, it will ask you if you want to stop the disk check (leave it to run)
