I have an odd error when "Trying" to install windows xp from my toshiba recovery media cd/dvd, i've running vista home premium 32bit now
I'm using a Toshiba Satellite m300, the recovery CD is made for my brand/series
Ive tried 2 different cd's with the exact same error
The error is while starting the disc to install it goes to the "Ramdisk" checky thing, then after the ramdisk part it immediatly fails(ive tried over 50+ times not a joke), it comes up saying Windows cannot find X:\BIN\TOSDIALOG.EXE then it comes up with X:\BIN\BOOTPRIORITY.EXE and one other x bin thing.
when the messages come up its just a black screen with the error in a little error box and when i click ok on all 3 problems it restarts and starts up vista again...ugh
When i insert the cd nothing autoplays(maybe its supposed to work like that)
I have posted this on other forums with absolutely no help from anyone,

I'm honestly unsure how to install xp, and my hate for vista is so great its unbielevable, if you say "Oh vista's alright if you use it properly" i'm gonna ignore the whole post, vista is NOT good if you work it properly, im a gamer, i love games, vista is not a gaming OS, i know someone with the exact same computer who plays games 20%+ faster then me, he even has a scan running at the same time and its still faster then my vista with every SINGLE THING turned off.
Please dont say anything about backing up data or how i should send for another disc, the disc works,i simply want to know how to fix this problem when trying to install xp from my toshiba recovery disc
If i have missed anything that i should of written yea....just say something please lol.

I wanna use this delete partition thing as a last resort..so anyone with any other ways to fix the problem...please and thank you

I have posted this on other forums with absolutely no help from anyone,
I see

Yes I'd be interested if anyone wants to help you with another option as well ;)
Because honestly I can't think of any. I know, you could buy another hard drive. But I still think my idea is the best so far ;)

I should trust ya on the matter as i've seen your a very helpful person, i just find it too much as a gamble, as, if i delete the partitions thats all that gone, no more vista/toshiba partition, try to install xp and it fails again....well im boned.
Thank you for all the help though, its good to know some people actually take the time.

Cant use GParted.....lol, i dont have any discs to burn it too, so if theres another program you could suggest, well i would be ever so grateful.

Yes any Windows Setup disc (the normal type ;))

Or buy a disc
Actually you could also use a bootable flash drive, but you have to wipe the drive to create it :(

Yea i cant understand any of that....im wishin it was just as simple as i get a program uninstalls vista, use recovery disk and it installs xp...why cant it be that simple.
I'm also wondering why theres a difference between XP Install disks and recovery disks, and wondering if the recovery disk will even work, its xp, my computer originally came with vista, so many questions...so little answers on google

It is involved
And Restore discs were meant to be easy for the User
The issue comes when partitions become corrupt or hardware changes in the OEM computer, and then the Restore disc gets a bit confused

Best to purchase a blank disc to create a bootable Gparted disc I feel
Or you could even create a UBCD4Win disc ;) https://www.techspot.com/vb/topic123957.html

Yea i cant buy blank disc's i just cant, i have no access to buying them.
It's why im trying to get something simple like a BIOS setting where it just deletes the system, wow that would be great lol.

You either need a bootdisc to remove the partition(s)
Or you can plug the internal hard drive into another working computer (as a slave or secondary drive)
And then use that computer's disk management in Windows to remove the partition

Too many options given. But a boot disc would be ideal

Yes please do

I have a $1 blank disc myself though. So please try to give it to someone who also has this

Good Luck

appreciate all the help and that, ill leave the post be as someone may find something or other i can do, but honestly im gonna just go to a tech specialist sometime and get em to install xp on it, and making the months ive been trying to do it seem worthwhile lol, yes im taking the easy way out

Just to add fuel to the flames, but does a restore disc only restore a pc complete from the disc,or does it use a hidden partition to restore the files needed to restore?....hope that didnt confuse anyone, but it souded better in my head......

Good point

But I'll have to expect it's a complete Restore media

I see now how "other forums" may not have helped you either
I wish I had that job, it would be easy money ;)
