Wireless working but not ethernet

I dont know why but my ethenet isnt getting picked up it just saying acquiring address forever. anyhelp? this might have something to do with it but i recently bought a network adapter for my ps2.

I had a router go bad before and the wireless still worked for about 5 days longer than the ethernet. I'm not an expert on this side of things just thought I would throw out my experience.

It is an easy thing to check with these kinds of problems.

1) Try a different ethernet cord
2) Try plugging into a different computer
3) See if you can borrow a router from a friend

Basically process of elimination has worked best for me in the past

you could also check that your ethernet card hasnt popped out of place or a cable inside your system hasnt come undone.
