Actually we do and it's not really guessing, just look at these things:They both are going to sell every console they can make this holiday season. Then a lot of them are going to be sold again on ebay.
The only information needed is "which one will make more consoles"?
Outside of guessing, nobody has that info at this time.
Just to be clear, these are not my predictions. The Hoth is the one saying XBSX sales will be double PS5, a prediction that I cast doubt on at the end of the article. I honestly don't think search interest equals purchasing interest. But I could be wrong. The Hoth is the supposed SEO expert and has some metric for translating search interest into conversion rates. Regardless I'm still skeptical.Actually we do and it's not really guessing, just look at these things:
1. 112mil PS4 consoles sold vs 50mil XB > https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_game_consoles
2. The number of views on the PS and XB youtube channels and official videos of games and their console presentations/shows = double or triple for PS, anyone can see which one will sell more.
If anything this article is completely wrong. It will be proven so soon.
3. All XSX games will run at launch on last gen Xbox too, so what exactly is the incentive to buy a new Xbox? None.
4. Another "analyst" predicts PS5 will sell 200-300mil consoles in 6 years, see it on wccftech. I'm not sure about this number, but I think more sales than PS4 is a given at this point.
?????????????I feel that Xbox will take back America, I have no doubt there. And I have a feeling that in terms of global sales this holiday season will also go to Xbox. Simply because of more units to sell. MS has two products lines, Series S & X. This will not only allow them to pump more units out, but sell them to a wider audience range.
Europe will most likely stick to Sony, and overall PS5 and Xbox Series sales will be pretty close. Epically with the massive amount of games PS5 will no longer have access too once we see the large number of MS game studio games coming out. They have so many Studios under the brand it will be hard to miss, but it won't be for a couple years till we start to see them roll out.
But I do see the Xbox being the primary console 3rd party devs create games for. The NA market leader is what tends to be the console most games are tailored to. Series X is hands down the more powerful console, this isn't even debatable. So we'll see if that helps them this time around. My PS4 was my main console last gen simply because 3rd party games played better on it.
We already know PS5 production numbers have been increased by 40%. Putting them well above PS4 launch window numbers. We also know from reports across the US & Europe PS5 pre-order stock was upto double XB. This is also reflected in various yearly sales charts. Which gives us an idea of relative pre-order numbers.Just to be clear, these are not my predictions. The Hoth is the one saying XBSX sales will be double PS5, a prediction that I cast doubt on at the end of the article. I honestly don't think search interest equals purchasing interest. I think, as many others have posted, that it's not going to be a matter of how many each console makers sells this holiday season--it's going to come down to how much each one produces because they are very likely to sell out. We have recently seen several examples of hot hardware selling out to scalpers wanting to turn a quick buck on eBay. This will certainly play a factor, especially in the case of the PS5 if the rumors of production shortfalls are to be believed. Likewise, if these rumors are true, Sony may just struggle to get enough units out the door to keep up with Microsoft, thus possibly bringing the prediction to fruition, but even then I don't think PS5 production limits will be half that of XBSX.
Correct Xbox is now an ecosystem and that is precisely why you don't need an XSX. But the XSX is still essentially a console in that you are still restricted to purchase digital games from a single storefront and while you can play the past library of Xbox console games, you cannot play the entire library of PC games. I was truly hoping the XSX would play PC games. It would have been entirely possible given the specs and the fact that its a DX12 Ultimate machine and devs could have still optimized games for the XSX. MS could have instituted a 'basic' and 'performance' mode that would automatically set to the default setting for the XSX when playing PC game optimized for XSX and an 'advanced' mode for gamers that wanted to change individual settings. If this had been done, I absolutely would have bought the XSX. Could you imagine playing Horizon Zero Dawn on the XSX, well it could have been possible if MS would have gone this route, because XSX would basically be a PC gaming machine with console like optimizations in MS partner games.Well Xbox is both PC and Console. Xbox is an ecosystem, and that includes the PC.
I've been a PC gamer since the DOS days. But I've always had all the consoles every generation. I've gone through the phase of playing any game I could on the PC, and I've gone through the I'm sick of sitting in a chair phone. There are games I would rather play on PC, and some I'd rather play on the TV. I've done the gaming HTPC, and will not do it again. I like consoles and computers for my games. I'm in the phase of my life where Kids rule my life. Sitting in my office alone doesn't quite always work.
IMO MS's goal is getting Gamepass/XCloud on everything they can. I wouldn't be surprised to see it on the Switch at some point. I don't see how anyone could not see that MS is going to be a huge force in the gaming world going forward. The number of game studios they now control is crazy, this is not the MS we knew last generation.
