Ack, today after forcing a shutdown in th emiddle of hibernation - the machine froze, my laptop has refused to boot past the "Windows is starting up" screen, right before logon. This happens with _EVERY_ option in the boot options screen - safe mode, vga, debugging, etc. no new software was installed, and if there is some virus that got through somehow during my last session, there's no way to find it now. i have no floppy, but my cd drive still works. help! college begins next week. what can i do?

oh, and i scanned my hard drive for errors using a tool included in my BIOS, but i can't get scandisk going.

specs:

1300 mhz celeron
450~~ MB ram (exact # escapes me)
windows xp sp2

Then you are not going to be able to fix the problem.

Unless you can download a boot disk image from somewhere.
