The Laptop 13 Pro tackles this head-on with a much stronger chassis design that instantly feels firmer and more unyielding when compared to its immediate predecessor. The leap in material quality is so significant that it's arguably the biggest reason for choosing the Laptop 13 Pro over the standard Laptop 13.5 since both models otherwise share nearly the same components and display options.

Framework has done so much on the hardware side to make taking the plunge into PCs as easy as possible. The company just needs to figure out the software so users aren’t forced to troll wikis to ensure their open-source OS doesn’t obliterate their PC’s battery health. By comparison, Windows 11 is a bloated, though easier-to-comprehend operating system. Either OS will serve you well on your adventure with Framework, so long as you accept the journey is the point, not the destination.

The Framework Laptop 13 Pro's sturdy design, haptic trackpad, and bigger battery feel like they should have been there all along. This is the definitive version of the system, though it can get warm and is very expensive.

With a sleek all-metal design and impressive battery life, Framework's Laptop 13 Pro elevates its brand of modular, upgradable computing to flagship status. Its sky-high component costs will give average buyers pause, but for repairability purists, this is a compelling machine.

The brutal price and lacklustre screen are the only things I don't love about the Framework 13 Pro, but everything else about it has burrowed into my heart like some benevolent worm taking residence. Panther Lake proves, once again, what a stellar chip Intel has on its hands, while everything else Framework has wrapped around it is smart, backwards compatible, and beautifully made.

The Laptop 13 Pro is the successful result of user feedback and a robust DIY ethos. Not only is the engineering here a major upgrade, but the premium touches (haptic touchpad, keyboard, better display) work together to deliver a thin and light, battery-efficient laptop that would stand out even without its DIY nature.
