In a nutshell: Microsoft introduced a limited-edition Xbox Series X in a translucent green shell earlier this year to celebrate the console's 25th anniversary. Now, Redmond is sharing a set of matching accessories for PC, mobile devices, and Xbox that further the celebration.
The Designed for Xbox 25th Anniversary Collection consists of a Razer Basilisk V3 Pro 35K mouse, a Razer BlackWidow V4 75% mechanical keyboard, and a set of Razer Hammerhead V3 X HyperSpeed earbuds – all decked out in translucent green.
There's also an 8BitDo Ultimate Charging Dock for Xbox controllers, translucent Backbone Pro mobile controllers in three "heritage" colorways that oddly enough don't include green, a Sling Bag from PowerA, and a GameSir X5 Lite mobile controller that is offered in Xbox green.
Most of the accessories appear to be limited edition versions of existing products, often with a slight price bump. For example, the Razer gear carries a $20 premium over their standard counterparts. All are from third-party brands, not Microsoft directly, and are available to pre-order from their respective manufacturer's websites.
Back in June, Microsoft announced a 25th anniversary edition of its Xbox Series X. The console is finished in a slick semi-transparent green with a glowing front logo, and a couple of other hidden surprises that Microsoft described as a thank you to the community. Functionally, it's the same as the existing Series X, complete with 1TB of storage. Pricing hasn't been revealed, but it's due out in November in time for the true anniversary date. Tom's Hardware believes it could cost upwards of $899, but we'll have to wait and see if that price point materializes.
Home game consoles as a category have seen significant price hikes as of late thanks in large part to the ongoing memory crisis. For many prospective gamers, buying a new console is simply no longer an option as they've been priced out of the market. With no end in sight for the RAM shortage, prices likely aren't going to correct themselves anytime soon.
