Despite of explosive sales and attention that goes beyond the business type, it's not been a flawless year for RIM, with the BlackBerry network experiencing major outages. The second outage this month and third for the year just occurred today in the early morning, with the initial problems only affecting a partial group of customers until later in the day when the entire BlackBerry network was out, according to current reports.

Research in Motion claims however the outage was due to planned routine maintenance, though it took them longer than expected to complete, eventually knocking people offline or delaying their emails. Today's problems did not affect those customers who use the higher class Enterprise Server, which companies operate on their own accord. Only people using RIM's stock service were affected.
