Many of those have been waiting patiently for the iPhone 3G to become locally available in their country are in for a treat later this month. According to several reports around the web, the handset will go on sale in no less than 20 countries on August 22 - pushing towards the goal of reaching 70 countries by the year's end.

No prices for either the phone or the service have been confirmed in these countries, but some of them will have more than one carrier offering the device - which will hopefully make the pricing more competitive in their part of the world. You can see a list of the countries that are expecting launches later this month, after the jump.
