Early this month, Via let the world know that they were going in a new direction for embedded PC platforms with the introduction of their Em-ITX form factor. The unique and dense form factor has been pitched as an ideal fit for embedded applications that require a lot of input peripherals and enough horsepower within a low thermal envelope.

Using a Nano processor, Via will demo their first EITX-3000 board at ESC Silicon Valley next week. There they will get the chance to show the world exactly how the board will function, pitching them at an exceptional choice for high performance systems in always-on applications such as high-end POS and the like, using only passive cooling. On paper the board sounds and looks nice, and reference diagrams make it easy to see how dense you can get your input ports.
