The cancelation of Futurama - for the second time - is considered by many to be one of life's great injustices. But fans of the animation will soon be able to see more of 31st-century New New York, as details have emerged about an upcoming mobile game featuring the adventures of Fry, Leela, Bender, and the rest of the Planet Express crew.

Fox Digital Entertainment has announced a partnership with Berlin-based mobile game developer Wooga to bring Futurama: Game of Drones to Android and iOS devices. The story will see the Planet Express gang taking on their longtime nemesis MomCo in a delivery war, with players asked to connect groups of delivery drones to solve puzzles as they "venture into iconic environments from the Futurama universe."

Wooga is hiring some pretty big names for Game of Drones, which hopefully means it'll be worthy of the Futurama licence. The game will be designed by industry veteran Dave Grossman, whose previous work as a writer and programmer includes The secret of Monkey Island, Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge, Tales of Monkey Island, and Sam & Max. Joining him will be former Futurama writer and executive producer Patric Verrone, along with Game of Thrones: Ascent writer and narrative designer Jonathon Myers.

Not much else has been revealed about Futurama: Game of Drones. There's been no mention of when we might get to play the game but its existence was originally revealed back in July on the official Facebook page of the TV show, so hopefully it's well into development and will start appearing on smartphones in the first few months of 2016.
