Microsoft has published a new Gears of War 4 trailer featuring a haunting take on a familiar melody.

The minute-long spot is backed by a rendition of Simon and Garfunkel's The Sound of Silence performed by David Draiman, frontman of American heavy metal band Disturbed (best known for their 2000 hit Down With The Sickness).

In an interview with Inverse, Draiman said the trailer gave him the chills, adding that it seemed very appropriate for the storyline, for what the main character is going through, and it seemed to set the stage perfectly.

This isn't your ordinary marketing ploy, either, as Draiman said he's a big fan of shooter games and cited the Gears franchise as one of his all-time favorites.

Gears of War 4 lands on Xbox One on October 11, 2106. Microsoft Studios will be hosting a multiplayer beta that'll be open to all Xbox Live Gold members starting April 25 and running through May 1.

Anyone that has played Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on PC or Xbox One during the past week or so is eligible to get into the beta early (starting April 18). This offer is good through today only so if you really want in early, you'd better get to playing the Ultimate Edition ASAP.

Disturbed fans may also want to check out their recent performance of The Sound of Silence on Conan.
