If you want to be in the ringside for a dime, you can't do much better than with the AOC 24G2U. The brightness in the dark is too high, so a lamp as a backlight is a good idea, and the viewing angles are unworthy of an ips panel - but otherwise just about everything beats this screen. Response times, color rendition and color range, calibration and uniformity, absent backlight bleeding and clouding: the quality offered is significantly higher than you'd expect for this price.

The AOC 24G2U is a fantastic gaming monitor if you consider its very palatable price and what it offers. The 144Hz IPS panel offers decent motion handling, but it excels in both contrast and color rendering. Games will look vibrant but well-balanced, giving you the best of both worlds which used to come at a hefty price.

AOC do a fantastic job with their budget gaming monitors. I said it before with the G1 and I will definitely say it again with the AOC 24G2U. Go get one. If you’re on a budget, but want the best performance you could possibly get, then the AOC 24G2U would be the monitor for you. It’s got a fantastic refresh rate and response time, and colours are hugely vivid and make your games look super sharp.
