Rocking the ASUS ROG appearance, with the performance to match, and plenty of connectivity to boot, the B550-F Gaming definitely presents a good argument, but it’s spendy.
A master class in motherboard design, one of the best looking and performing options for the B550 launch, but you will pay a premium for it.
The ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F Gaming is a well-rounded board with a solid feature set and competitive pricing. It may seem odd to think of an AMD "B" series motherboard as mainstream, but that is exactly what the STRIX B550-F Gaming is: a fully featured mainstream motherboard.
If you are in the market for an AM4 motherboard that doesn't break the bank, the ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F Gaming should be at the top of your list.
Remember my remarks on frequency though, your sweet spot is two DIMMs at 3200 MHz / CL14 or 3600 MHz CL16. With B550 AMD still allowed partial PCIe Gen 4.0 support, which is great to see. Pricing aside overall it's a lovely product that brings AX WIFI and 2.5 GigE towards the B550 platform. We had no stability issues and had good times testing the product. As such recommended.
Despite users expecting cheaper prices of B550, vendors look to have made improvements to the quality of the PCB to make sure the PCIe 4.0 implementation is optimal. There are lower cost B550 options available, but ASUS has a firecracker in the B550-F Gaming Wi-Fi and provides a solid alternative to X570.
