Forza Horizon 6

As you'd expect, Forza Horizon 6 is the biggest and perhaps best entry in the series yet. Its recreation of Japan is absolutely brilliant too, with some truly scenic locations to visit and race across. It's just a shame that Playground Games plays it a little too safe, with this essentially feeling like Forza Horizon 5 and Forza Horizon 4 before it – but with a new map.

The best Forza Horizon game yet, delivering an astonishingly vast and detailed open world, filled with incredible features. With easily 100 hours of high quality solo content and infinite potential with community creations and online play, Forza Horizon 6 is a glorious showcase game for Xbox gaming. Just be warned the straight-laced racing gameplay is pretty tame compared to the genre's finest.

The customization options and an obsession with showering you in positive stimuli make every mile feel worthwhile, but if you're very familiar with the series, you might agree that some of the formula has become predictable by now. There's still lots of tread on these tires, though, and it's enough to make Forza Horizon 6 another joy ride in the most adaptable and enjoyable racing series out there.

Forza Horizon 5 was already an exceptional racing game, but Forza Horizon 6 takes everything up a notch to deliver an even more engaging, entertaining and all-encompassing experience. There's an absolute wealth of racing, exploring and collecting to do here, and that's before the inevitable live-service updates start adding even more content. Few games are as essential as this.

I’ll always concede Forza Horizon 3 may forever be my favourite open-world racer, because who doesn’t love driving around their own backyard, but make no mistake: Forza Horizon 6 is unequivocally the best. The new standard in open-world racing is here, and it’s a gundamn masterpiece.

This is Forza Horizon at its most powerful: with broad appeal and niche specialty, overclocking the fun factor whilst adding depth to its most finicky mechanics. The Japanese backdrop came at the perfect time; a beautiful accompaniment to a beautiful game. It's taken 14 years to get here, but I think Forza Horizon 6 finally delivers on the promises the original game made, way back in October 2012.

Forza Horizon 6 hits the road with the most densely packed open world racing game ever created, in the truly iconic setting of Japan. Events and challenges cleverly mix intense racing with charming stories to discover that tap into the culture and community of Japan in a way that makes this the most inviting Forza Horizon map ever pieced together, while also being the largest. Yes, it’s still Forza Horizon as we know and love it, but you can easily make an argument for “best racing game of all time” if you particularly enjoy the Land of the Rising Sun. Arigatou gozaimasu.

There’s not much to get in the way of its enjoyment with tons of accessibility and difficulty options, and you’re hard pressed to find someone unable to Forza their heart out. Not even minor technical issues can blot out the light from the Land of the Rising Sun, but some functional decisions can still be improved on. It still comes with a high recommendation for any racing game fan as long as not having turtle shells and Italian plumbers isn’t a deal-breaker.
