Terminator 2D: No Fate is a wonderfully realised tribute to one of the single greatest movies ever made, punctuated with pitch-perfect music, exquisite pixel art, and brilliant Easter eggs.

Terminator 2D: No Fate is uncompromisingly retro, for better and for worse. It doesn’t just borrow the aesthetics of 90s action games — it fully commits to their structure, their difficulty, and their occasional rough edges. If that style clicks with you, there’s a lot to love here: tight level design, a genuine affection for T2, and enough challenge to keep repeat runs engaging.

Gamers who are old enough to have seen the film originally will likely love the retro visual style, and those after a simple, arcade style run-and-gun experience will have a blast here – for a while.

Terminator 2D: No Fate has challenged my everyday life with retro-influenced gameplay and technology from a bygone era with iconic scenes and levels with a volatile T-1000 of bone-crushing viscosity hot on its heels. The past absolutely belongs in the present - not to mention the future. Terminator 2D: No Fate is the game the brand has been waiting for since 1991.

Terminator 2D: NO FATE is a faithful and stylish 2D reimagining of Terminator 2 that focuses on skill, nostalgia, and realism. It's the branded game the '90s should have had: short but replayable, hard but fair.

A classic 90's film turned in a classic 90's side scrolling shooter, with a few lashings of modern techniques, what's not to love?

With sounds and visuals that will transport you back to when you watched the best bits of the movie for the first time and gameplay that will remind you of wired controllers and inserting coins and cartridges, No Fate itself is a little bit of a time machine. Although thankfully it's not one that will send a naked man back in time to kill you. Despite a very short run time which may be offputting for some, I'll be back for at least a couple more playthroughs before the year is out, so recommending it to you lot is no problemo at all.

Thanks to its retro-styled visuals and old-fashioned gameplay, Terminator 2D: No Fate genuinely feels like a blast from the past, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. While it's rather short and it's disappointing that there's no voice acting, it perfectly captures the essence of the classic film and remains fun to play throughout.
