Motorola Edge 20 Pro

The Motorola Edge 20 Pro has a worthy processor, good cameras and a fairly long-lasting battery, which on paper combine to make it a capable device. However, it’s bulky and doesn’t sit comfortably in the hand, and it doesn’t have anything truly unique to offer, making it hard to recommend amid the multitude of similar devices in the competitive mid-range market.

Motorola has delivered a real flagship smartphone with the Edge 20 Pro, which is surprisingly affordable for €699.99 (roughly $699). The smartphone is close to perfect when it comes to performance, battery life, and camera quality. Once again, I have to applaud the decision to give the Snapdragon 888 SoC a miss and settle for the Snapdragon 870 SoC instead, which offers solid performance without experiencing any overheating issues.

Motorola makes some compromises here and there to accommodate a 5x periscope zoom camera in the Edge 20 Pro. But if you’ve been waiting some time for a somewhat affordable phone to push this particular area of camera tech, you’re in luck. Just make sure you’re happy with the few things it doesn’t do quite as well first.

A handset that deals in breadth, offering almost every core feature you get in phones costing twice the price.
