Benchmarks: SuperPI, WinRAR
SuperPI is another test that does the Phenom no favors. For some reason the Phenoms have always struggled with this benchmark and in this instance we see no change on that trend. While they were able to improve upon the calculation time of the Phenom X4 9950, both Phenom II X4 processors were slower than the old Core 2 Duo E6700.
The original Phenom performs quite well in the WinRAR benchmark, able to beat the Core 2 Quad Q9650 in the multi-thread test. The Phenom II X4 920 was another 16% faster, while the Phenom II X4 940 was 34% faster than the Phenom X4 9950. While these are impressive gains, neither result placed the Phenom II X4 processors within range of the Core i7 920.
