Benchmarks: PCmark Vantage, ScienceMark
The PCmark Vantage gaming performance test shows the new Phenom II X4 processors delivering strong performance gains. The Phenom II X4 920 was an impressive 17% faster over the Phenom X4 9950. This performance improvement also placed the Phenom II X4 processors ahead of the Core 2 Quad Q9650, though still trailing behind the Core i7.
The PCmark Vantage communication test paints an even more positive picture, showing the Phenom II X4 processors with significant performance gains over the Core i7. This is especially surprising given that the Phenom X4 9950 was the slowest tested processor in this test.
The new Phenom II X4 looks impressive in ScienceMark 2.0 with the 940 beating the Core i7 920 by a small margin. On the other hand the Phenom II X4 920 was slightly slower than the Core 2 Quad Q9650, just managing to outperform the older Phenom X4 9950.
