Power Consumption
It seems that the various claims regarding improved efficiency are at least partly true, as the Phenom II X4 940 uses 18% less power than the Phenom X4 9950 when under load and 24% less at idle, despite of the added horse power.
When under full load the Phenom II X4 940 consumes less power than a dual-core Core 2 Duo E8600 processor and less than the new Core i7 920. The Core i7 processors are still more efficient at idle, but we won't complain. Results are not breathtaking but are certainly improved enough to give it a thumbs up.
