CPU Performance
Please note these utilization screenshots aren't typically included in our performance reviews but our typical CPU utilization tests are pointless with the fps cap in place. With that being the case, we've gathered results from just a few chips and only the FX-8150 was included for AMD.
A majority of the tested CPUs were able to extract the most amount of frames from the GTX 980. Again we realize we are testing these CPUs with a GPU bottleneck, but had we tested at 1080p almost every processor would have been capped at 60fps.
The AMD FX-9590 put on an impressive show as it matched the Core i7-5960X with 51fps, the Core i7-4960X and FX-8350 both averaged 50fps, while the i7-4770K, i7-3770K, i5-4690K and i7-3960X along with the AMD FX-4320 and FX-6350 all hit 49fps.
It's worth pointing out that the game is perfectly playable on Core i3 processors and we even found playable performance on the dual-core Pentium.
