VLC media player is a highly portable multimedia player for various audio and video formats (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, mp3, ogg, ...) as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. It can also be used as a server to stream in unicast or multicast in IPv4 or IPv6 on a high-bandwidth network.

The VideoLAN Team is pleased to announce the release of VLC media player 1.0 - Goldeneye. Resulting of 2 years of development, it features many new functionalities, including a new interface for Windows and Linux.

What's New:

VideoLAN and the VLC development team present VLC 1.1.12, a bug and security fix release with improvements for audio output on Mac OS X and with PulseAudio.

This release was necessary due to a security issue in the HTTP and RTSP server components, though this does not affect standard usage of the player. Binaries for Mac OS X and sources are available.
