Sony readies "It Only Does Everything" PS3 ads
The company has prepared a new marketing campaign to refresh the eyes of potential consumers. Dubbed “It Only Does Everything,” the ads focus on playing up the console's vast functionality, all while poking some fun at the months of price cut rumors and the company's consistent denial. The ads are clearly aimed at people who have been following console development for some time, as opposed to a more general audience.
Indeed pointing out some of the very issues they've been criticized for in the past is a nice way to break the ice and introduce the new price point along with the slimmed-down version of the console. Will it succeed? Check out the ads which are embedded after the jump.

hello ... if they continue into re-releasing great PS2 hits into re-mastered PS3 version, i think BC would become obsolete .. still would mean spending more money but ensures compatibility! just check-out the God of War Collection cheers! |

NO. It does not do Everything. What a bad case of false advertisement. I like the ps3 but i'm hating them for this. There "It only does everything" Console can not even play its little brothers games. How much more fail can it get? This is such a stupid campaign. "Oh, a few models of the ps3 do play ps2 games" But the "It only does everything" term applies to all of the ps3s. I wish they'd stop worrying about making it smaller yet ugly and actaully put some time into making the damned thing backwards compatible. |

I find it very annoying that they claim that the PS3 does EVERYTHING. I have a 360 and I'll be honest, 75% of the time I'm using it as a Windows Media Center Extender to watch and record live TV. The PS3 doesn't even come close to that functionality. Sure, you could try surfing over to mycast.orb.com.... but really? PS3 devs! If you want to claim it does everything, think of ALL consumers! Add on a dedicated way to connect to a computer for tv streaming or heck, just give me an icon that goes straight to orb! Do all that AND make it work in 1080p and I'll buy one because then, to me, it will be doing everything. -Wes |
