The Shift is Maingear's highest performing consumer desktop system to date, featuring a custom-built chassis from SilverStone. Pricing starts at just over $2,300 and depending on the options selected, you could shell out close to 30 grand for a fully pimped out system.

very nice article. if this config is $7000, i am really interested to see the $30,000 build: what the hell is in it, 10x256GB SSDs or something? geez!
anyway. the thing weighs 70 lbs. poor delivery man!

This config makes as much sense as killing an ant with a hellfire missile... scratch that, with a 50-megaton nuclear bomb, scratch that with 3 nuclear bombs, and a planet buster. not that there's anything wrong with that.

This is the first system I've used that could run Crysis with everything maxed out without dropping below 70 fps ...
Crysis (Very high graphics settings)
1920 x 1080, 16x AA 73.4 fps 38.5 fps 22.9 fps
So if I read this this correctly then, The 73.4 FPS is the Minimum FPS and not the average FPS?

That power supply could probably run my fridge and vacuum cleaner at the same time!
One critique I have with this and other "gaming rig" machines is that they are too ostentatiously designed. It's more of a problem with Alienwares and such that have glowing LED''s and neon colors all over the place. I mean, by the time a gamer can afford to buy such a nice machine, it's likely that he will have outgrown the phase where everything he covets is flashy and loud. It's like putting a picnic table sized spoiler on a Ferarri.

Very nice. I love how they turned the components for top exhaust, heat does RISE after all. Cable management is beautifully done, but that's a given considering the price tag on this beast. I suppose the new question is will it run Crysis 2, haha and great review as always.

I remember looking at Alienware back in the day and looking at dream computers.This thing completely blows anything I even dreamed of out of the water. It's nice to think that one day this computer, at least without the custom case, will be affordable to me, but then again that will probably be as far removed as the days I first learned of alienware and now. *sigh*

This Maingear gaming PC totally rocks. I only wonder what's in the $ 30,000 config. Techspot should include this PC as the main prize in the contest.
