Weekend Open Forum: How much time do you spend on the PC daily?

Computers have been an integral part of my life for at least the past 10 years or so. I spent an exuberant amount of time on my PC as a teenager before the Internet was the popular destination that it is today. Things died down a bit while I attended college but after I decided that wasn’t the right path for me, I headed right back to the trusty computer in search of making a living.

Between TechSpot duties, running my own tech site and casual web surfing, it’s not unusual to log upwards of nine hours a day in front of my screens. That number drops a bit on the weekend as I try to get out and do some stuff in the real world, however.

With this week’s open forum, we are curious as to how much time you spend on the computer during the course of an average day whether it’s for business or pleasure.

  1. Since I work in IT 8 hours every day at work then another 4 at home gaming/web surfing on weekdays. I probably average 10 hours on saturdays and sundays each gaming/web surfing. So about 80 hours a week? man haha. I did recently get an elevating desk at home so I can stand a lot more than I sit when using the computer at home and it has helped my back a lot.

  2. I'm on the computer on average 5 out of the 8 hrs I am at work - doing setup and design work, plus I am the IT dept, so some days its more like 9 hrs.....

Then I usually spend 2-5 hrs at home each evening on the computer. So on your average weekday I usually spend 7 to 10 hrs on the computer, then some time on the weekend - anywhere from just a few hours in the evening to all day.
