A team of avid Star Wars and Minecraft fans have spent three years recreating the sci-fi classic Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope in the pixel-filled building game. And the results are quite amazing, accurately following every scene with a superb level of detail.

At the moment the team have released several trailers, one of which is included above, as well as the first 30 minutes of the film. In total, there's only 10 minutes of footage left to create, with the final film in its entirely set to be released very soon.

All footage from the recreation was capture in Minecraft, and custom textures and skins were used when some elements of Minecraft didn't line up exactly with what was seen in Star Wars. Due to copyright reasons, no sound will be included, so you'll need to sync the Minecraft footage with a copy of the original 1977 film for the full experience.
