Audio
Select Options, System then select the Other
tab.
Effects Volume. Use this to set the effects volume level in Castle Wolfenstein. Adjust
the slider bar for volume as required, slide the bar Right
to increase the effects volume & vice versa.
Music Volume. Use
this to set the volume level for music in Castle
Wolfenstein. Adjust the slider bar for volume as
required, slide the bar Right to increase
music volume & vice versa. NOTE – Muting the
Music will not affect performance beneficially.
Sound Quality.
This setting frequency used for Audio playback, with 22
khz providing greater sound quality than 11 khz
does. You should only consider setting this to 11 khz
if you have an old (ISA) based Soundcard, essentially all
reasonably modern Soundcards should provide no problems with
22 khz playback.
Doppler Sound. Set
this to Yes to enable a doppler effect for
Audio playback (The Sound frequency of fast moving items,
e.g. bullets, can change as it moves past your virtual
self), which will give a more realistic feel to sound in the
Game. Set this to No should you wish to disable
this effect, useful for those with old Soundcards, or slow
CPUs.
Now
open your Config file & Add/Edit
the following settings as appropriate.
s_volume
"x". Use values from 0
to 1 for x to increase/decrease in-game volume. Use your own
discretion for this of course. 1
is the maximum, 0
will mute the game.
s_musicvolume
"x". Set to 0 to disable playing music in Castle Wolfenstein. This will
of course improve performance & I’d highly recommend
doing that. Especially when you’re going to play online.
s_doppler
"x".
x can be used to adjust the doppler effect. Valid
values for x are from 0
– 10. This is a
highly
sensitive setting & I'd recommend leaving it at the default
value as a result.
s_mixahead
"x".
x sets the sound mixahead value, modifying
this value may fix Audio stuttering with some Soundcards.
I'd recommend setting it to 0.2 unless you encounter such problems, lower this value if you do.
s_initsound
"x". When x is set to 1 all
audio is enabled. When set to 0 no Audio is
played. The frame rate will be a lot higher when set to 0
although its only really useful if you want to purely
benchmark video card performance in Castle Wolfenstein.
