High Quality 2560x1600 Performance

Although we don't expect anyone to play games with an expensive 30" LCD using a budget graphics card, we tested all cards for comparisons sake. As you can see, the Radeon HD 5870 is ideal at this resolution managing an average of 77fps with a minimum recorded frame rate of 50fps. The Crossfire Radeon HD 5870 configuration never dipped below 60fps in our test which was impressive.

The 2560x1600 resolution is obviously only recommended for those with high-end graphics cards. The old GeForce GTX 285, which is still considered to be a powerful graphics card, averaged 58fps with a minimum of 40fps. The GeForce GTX 275 and Radeon HD 4890 both dipped below 40fps for the minimum recorded frame rate, while they averaged 55fps.

Once the minimum frame rates dip down to 30fps you will start to notice lag spikes and for that reason we do not recommend gaming with the Radeon HD 4870 or slower at 2560x1600 using the high quality preset.
