10 Tech Enthusiast Guilty Pleasures: (A.K.A. Expensive Gear We Need)

Happy to incorporate your good suggestions in the main text
Uplift allows real wood desks with fully functional mechanical up and downs. Im not promoting them but instead of maybe naming the most mainstream company on the planet producing 1-2 year products we could incorporate something worthy of the enthusiast category. Not the "gamer" category.

Im sorry, I dont really know why it triggers me, it just feels like a paid advertisement. What options does secret labs offer? Uplift lets you even customize the length AND t ype of wood they cut and customize for you. Not plastic, not plywood, not something that is going to sink in 2 years. My desk is custom cut to my length and is solid walnut wood. Its beautiful.

If I want to splurge, I want to splurge. Offering a TV at that price while advertising secret labs desk... Again, I apologize, it feels dishonest.

Speakers, thank you. Im on it ;)

The reason is simple, in building this "wish list" type of article we went around asking our own staff members and two had particularly good experiences with Secret Lab. Like you, I'm not into the gamer aesthetic, but I know a ton of gamers and enthusiasts who are, and overall, Secret Lab products receive mostly positive praise.

Personally, the last time I went shopping for a standing desk many years ago, I bought a Nextdesk — but it seems they’ve gone out of business. I didn't know about Uplift but I was glad to add them to the mix when I saw they offer the same type of quality product.

From the beginning, the concept of the article involved striking a balance between recommending mainstream to high-end to luxury gear, so there’s a little something for everyone — and in many cases, the suggestions are immediately actionable.

Hey, thanks for the fair and rational response. It makes sense.

Loving these articles, but I’d skip the 97" G5 OLED. The 83" G5 is actually the smart choice. It has the newer panel with MLA tech, the latest Alpha 11 processor. Bigger isn’t always better—unless you're compensating for something.

Maybe the 4090 graphics card, but my current 4060 is already more than needed. Not a big gamer nor do I deal with graphic intensive software. My current system was built 2 .5 years ago based on want not need, after being stuck with low end and obsolete systems for so long. I will not move to the 4090 until they implement heavier gauge wire in the graphics card power cables to eliminate the melting and fire hazard. Even with money being no object, I still refuse to pay the ridiculous prices asked for the 4090 card!! Wouldn't touch the 5000 series for love or money!
