Access denied in Windows.old

  1. Hi there, just got this laptop, its OS was corrupt so I just installed a fresh copy of Win 7, but the problem is that I cannot access the old fiiles because it keeps on saying I do not have permission to access the user name inside the windows old folder, how do I bypass this and retrieve all the info that was on the old OS, "DID NOT FORMAT" the HD just installed the OS, please your help is highly appreciated

    I suggest a re-install after a full format.

    For the record, helping someone to circumvent a password is against forum ethics and generally not allowed.

    You need to "take ownership" of the files and folders. Google take ownership Windows Version where Windows Version is XP, Vista, or Windows 7. You should find the instructions
