So my problem came about very suddenly the other day. My mcafee said it detected a trojan and needed to restart after removing it, then my pc went crazy in the restarting cycle, failing to restart then BSOD then attempting to restart over and over. So, I finally uninstalled mcafee in safe mode and got started on your 8 step virus removal. I guess I just need to know if there is further work to be done, or if it did the trick. My system seems to be running normally, but I'm no expert! Thanks for your help. It is much appreciated.

Hello heidihow

Start –Run, type services.msc (or copy/paste) in 'run' box. Click OK. When the services window opens, scroll down to:
McAfee Real-time Scanner (McShield)
Right click on it and choose 'properties. You will see a little drop down bar with an arrow. Click on that and change it to ”Deactivate

Same procedure with:
McAfee SystemGuards (McSysmon)

Reboot.

Attach new hijackthis log, and tell if the computer are still running fine ?
