Go back and reread my most recent post re: LA Times. Nobody is linking to the alleged images of the deal. The only thing in the video and existing article coverage are the offensive messages.

Furthermore, asking legitimate questions that are going unanswered is not grasping at straws.

1. No screenshots have been provided demonstrating that the relevant deal that was terminated was first agreed to. The media has merely claimed they exist.

2. Airbnb requires its users to setup a profile that includes an avatar and personal details. The media, and the state of California, is saying that the home owner cancelled the deal because the renter is Asian.

3. For both (1) and (2) to be true would require the Host, "Tami" to have done the following:

• Ignored Suh's name, which is clearly Asian, during the first negotiation.
• Ignored Suh's profile picture, which is clearly Asian, during the first negotiation.
• Ignored Suh's profile and name, which are clearly Asian, during the second negotiation.
• Suddenly realize at the last moment, minutes to arrival, that Suh was Asian.

If you're buying this story at face value, I've got a timeshare to sell you.

The homeowner here is being punished for a "racist" comment, not demonstrable discrimination. You're the ones grasping at straws and interpreting fake news as gospel without so much as questioning it.

Something about this whole thing has really smelled from the beginning. It just reads like typical CNN creative writing. However, even if its all been reported honestly and accurately, the takeaway that should *terrify* every American is the fact that a private business owner is being told who they have to provide service to, being forced to LITERALLY attend a re-education camp, be part of a prison work gang and support a state-endorsed political organization. California is now officially a fascist regime that has more in common with the former USSR or Third Reich than the current USA. The problem here is your story requires a jump in logic, an assumption. You are essentially presenting us with a Occam's razor scenario. We have your assumption that their reporting is faulty and your assumption that the rental owner did notice ethnicity before hand. This compared to an edited professional journalist's report, a person who actually went out, collected, and verified this information. Last time I checked, that's your 2 assumptions vs their zero and the side with less assumptions is always more probable. Unless you actually have some pertinent facts or actual deductions, your story line is about as credible as Pizza Gate.

As for DavisLane: The discriminatory racist was the one who brought Trump into it. It's not part of the title or a major part of the story. It doesn't go unnoticed that you wish to downplay racism.

Nothing I have said requires an assumption. There is key missing information in this story. Namely, the very piece of evidence that demonstrates the agreement that was cancelled. Citing Occam's razor as a way to dismiss this is amazingly unskilled. Their omission is the detail that requires all the jumps in logic and assumptions to justify (as demonstrated earlier).

I have a sneaky suspicion there is something else to this story. What do you want to bet, this group came in either being disrespectful, noisy or making other demands, and the airBnB host tossed them out, and then, they made some remark about the white race or Americans, and then the BnB host made her remarks.
I'm telling you, I'm paranoid...when I have any interaction with some other race or something, I quietly kick
the sound recorder on my phone on...just to protect myself from some of this.
I'm not saying the airBnB host is 100% innocent, but I'll be there is more to this story, than what is being

At some point you can't keep arguing with racists or extremists. They will rationalize anything they can. I'm all for open debate but at a certain point you are just giving them a podium to espouse ridiculous beliefs.

I did housing defense work for a year. I came across discrimination cases and am very familiar with the federal and NY discrimination laws. This case seems pretty open and shut. A business (airbnb) did their own investigation, an administrative agency did their own investigation, and this has been reported in the media. Meanwhile, everyone in an ability to review all the evidence has staunchly condemned the owner of the house.

Yet here we are stuck with people saying conspiracy theories and then continually increasing the amount of proof necessary to show that she was discriminated against. It's bewildering. It's also alarming that it's becoming more and more okay to say very incorrect things in such a public forum. This is the kind of stuff that used to be mostly confined to kkk sites and the such.

I have made zero statements in this thread about race, correctly identified a "racist" comment as a "racist" comment, and have made no argument supporting the renter's alleged views towards Asians.

What is the liklihood a news agency would paint a false narrative knowing that it will go unquestioned and recieve viral (see: monetizable) outrage while pushing a political agenda? Recall that this was exactly what went down when the UVA rape hoax (Rolling Stone) first hit the news wires.

This is my entire point. This story is being treated as unquestionable truth even though key evidence is completely absent.

Where are the screenshots of the agreement?

Sometimes I will give leeway and let members argue it out, lest I get accused of being too hasty. At some point it can get out of hand and I will say (in so many words), "Stop, that's enough personal comments." Any personal comment posts after that will be deleted as members have been warned as in this thread. Some members have picked up on this, others haven't. If members find objectionable comments, report them. Do not quote them or reply to them.

Edit: Of course, overt name calling is subject to immediate deletion as always.
