Amazon paid no corporate tax in Europe last year despite record sales income

Don't care if they paid taxes or not. Regardless, they creating millions of jobs by opening more centers around the world. Just continue to get me my item within 1-2 days and we call it even.
You are ignorant. Corporations like Amazon by avoiding taxes cause a number of free market distortions. Firstly they create uneven playing field in which smaller companies that cannot afford an army of lawyers and tax advisors/accountants have their taxes paid in full which reduces their net (after tax) profit so their effective costs are higher. This money then instead of being distributed to the citizens (in the form of various plans, benefits, lower taxes, better healthcare) in which the profit was made is siphoned off and lands in the pockets of CEOs and board members so they get rich at the expense of citizens and workers. So everyone (competitors, citizens, governments) loses. But sure, enjoy your 1-2 delivery time.

How can any local retailers compete with this?
I need something, I drive to the store and buy it, drive home and have it. This has worked for me thus far and shall continue doing so. Unless Amazon can compete with that local stores win in my books.

If I can wait a week to get something or local retailers don't have it, well Amazon usually has it.

Although Amazon has been more expensive on some things I can buy locally, when this happens I go buy the same thing locally and then return it to Amazon to get my money back.

Two things. Firstly, comparing AMAZON with small restaurants is a false equivalency because the scale isn't even remotely close. Secondly, if a US citizen doesn't pay tax when they're supposed to, the IRS gives them an all-paid vacation to Club Fed if they ever get audited. Amazon didn't do this on the sly, they did it above-board. So again, another false equivalency.

If you think that it's ok for massive corporations to do this, then remember it when you or someone you love gets a life-ending disease (and yes, it WILL happen) and your Insurance Company screws you over (assuming you have insurance). Attitudes like your are why the US healthcare (lack of a) system is in the pathetic state that it is.

People who care about themselves and others understand that if Amazon WAS paying taxes, they'd still be richer than Midas. People who care about themselves and others understand that if Amazon WAS paying taxes, governments would be able to afford NOT to cut things like education and healthcare spending. It could save your life or the life of someone you love.

I refer to posts like yours as "Nihilistic Incel thought' because Incels are nihilistic and don't care about themselves or others.
Not sure why you are so bitter & angry. I am a tax-paying US citizen who is sick & tired of shouldering the all of the burden myself when so many others get a free ride. Nothing will change with either Amazon or corrupt restaurant owners until elected officials spend more time collecting what they’re owed and less time spending what they don’t have. But that will never happen because they are all corrupt too.

The EU just can't help itself from STEALING American money. The EU bureaucrats spend every waking day trying to figure out how to steal money from American companies. Amazon didn't pay taxes DUE TO EULAWS. If they don't like their own laws, then change them. Amazon did nothing wrong.

Sadly, the MSM and left demonize companies for maximizing their sales and profits. What is the point of having a company if your supposed to turn over all of your profits to a government to avoid being called "greedy" by the ignorant?

If that isn't calling the kettle black!

I blame tax dodging companies like Amazon just as much as inept politicians and corrupt countries that enable this.

Well, when nobody can hold a company responsible in a court-of-law. the only thinbg that might change things is the court of public opinion

You not caring is the same as the country that allows for this.

Oh, I care - I hold all equally in disdain.

Miss the time when large corporations actually paid taxes - that allowed communities to build and maintain nice things for its inhabitants.

See, your local store is paying corporate taxes and Amazon is not. That's not a level playing field. If this continues local stores are more likely to close.

To think. The government is creating and spending the money Amazon hasn't paid out of thin air.
