I did here rumors of Canada getting shorted on supply. I heard someone it was say it politically motivated but I'm not sure I believe that. Politicians aren't dumb enough to punish their Voters to protest don't Trump and Elon. Or maybe they are, idk and I don't really care either.By all accounts there wasn't enough supply because the stock was not all that high to begin with. At least in Canada it wasn't. The stores here only had a handful of 9070XT on hand at MSRP and another "larger" handful selling at various higher prices, topping at $860 (there are still 6 cards available at that price Canada wide at Canada Computers).
With a handful of 5070Ti still available at around $875 I don't think those leftover cards will sell at all, not with a $15 difference.
For all intents and purposes, the 9070XT landed with a bit of a thud in Canada.
If Azor said it, the opposite is true.Frank Azor assured that MSRP will not vanish.

AMD has stated that more premium card prices would be up to the card makers, but that they fully expect that the reference level cards should remain at MSRP. So considering the Red Devil is their "top of the line" card, instead, if you're specifically looking at Powercolor, the "Reaper" line is the base model, and SHOULD be at least close to MSRP. If it's not, your computer place is ripping you off.LOL Straight to scalper prices here in New Zealand
Last Gen mid Range Powercolor Red Devil RX7800XT $849
This Gen mid Range Powercolor Red Devil RX9070XT $1499
And to top it off NO freakin stock available they had 1 in stock at time of sale
If Azor said it, the opposite is true.
One of the biggest computer retailers in Canada is yes, now out of stock of all the 9k series (it's launch week for a VERY anticipated product), but they do list the prices of the base models within $15-$30 (CAD) of the converted USD base price. Canada does always pay a little extra (not counting tax) for computer stuff, it's just how life is here. When there was dollar parity with the USA a decade and a bit ago, computer stuff was usually an extra 10-20% higher in price than our equal (and for a short time, higher dollar value) would indicate.I did here rumors of Canada getting shorted on supply. In my hometown in Pennsylvania, there are 97's available at every bestbuy close MSRP, none of the XT's, and it's been a little while after launch relatively speaking.
Replying to myself, bc time ran out, my math failed me with beer in hand, it's either just under a 1% USD premium, or just over it. Not between 1 and 2. Happy beer day!One of the biggest computer retailers in Canada is yes, now out of stock of all the 9k series (it's launch week for a VERY anticipated product), but they do list the prices of the base models within $15-$30 (CAD) of the converted USD base price. But to explain what I'm talking about right now, which is base model prices ($550 and $600 USD prices for base models... the XFX Swift (their base model) 9070, dollar converted, is $6 USD over MSRP. Same with the Sapphire Pulse model.
The XT base models, again Swift and Pulse, are under $5 USD over MSRP. That's the lowest "Canada premium" I've ever seen. Between 1 and 2 %
NZ dollars and they're both top of the line MID range GPU's as AMD hasn't made a high end GPU this gen and the reaper wasn't even available hereAMD has stated that more premium card prices would be up to the card makers, but that they fully expect that the reference level cards should remain at MSRP. So looked up the model you're referring to, and assuming you're using NZD as your base for price, Newegg in the USA lists it at $800 USD, so you're paying a $50 premium in USD if you buy the card there. That's right around what I'd expect. It's not a scalper price. If that's the USD price you're showing, DEFINITELY a ripoff.
