Inactive Appears I have a virus..

I ran into a problem this week when I restarted my computer. ( I'm running Security Essentials and MWB). When the computer restarted windows opened just fine, but when I clicked on any icons nothing would happen. The next morning I realized that if I waited,the programs I clicked on would open in 3 to 5 minutes, so I ran Security Essentials, MWB, and disk cleanup, everything was fine. Then tonight the same thing happened. Only this time before I ran MSE I checked the history and it showed that it had 3 severe Trojans,(which I was never notified of, nor did they show up after any scans) I removed as suggested. I decided to run your five steps and send the records, but I get an error message from MWB when I try to update. So, I decided to uninstall MWB and download a new version. Problem with that is that it wants me to restart my computer to uninstall the program. I know when I do, I will have the same problem with it, and it takes forever to run the scans to get the computer to where I can use it again. I used your services several years ago with great success...please help. Thank you!

For x32 (x86) bit systems download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool 32-Bit and save it to a flash drive.
For x64 bit systems download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool 64-Bit and save it to a flash drive.

Plug the flashdrive into the infected PC.

Enter System Recovery Options.

To enter System Recovery Options from the Advanced Boot Options:

• Restart the computer.
• As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until Advanced Boot Options appears.
• Use the arrow keys to select the Repair your computer menu item.
• Select US as the keyboard language settings, and then click Next.
• Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
• Select your user account an click Next.

To enter System Recovery Options by using Windows installation disc:

• Insert the installation disc.
• Restart your computer.
• If prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc. If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or DVD, check your BIOS settings.
• Click Repair your computer.
• Select US as the keyboard language settings, and then click Next.
• Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
• Select your user account and click Next.

On the System Recovery Options menu you will get the following options:

    Startup Repair
    System Restore
    Windows Complete PC Restore
    Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool
    Command Prompt
• Select Command Prompt
• In the command window type in notepad and press Enter.
• The notepad opens. Under File menu select Open.
• Select "Computer" and find your flash drive letter and close the notepad.
• In the command window type e:\frst.exe (for x64 bit version type e:\frst64) and press Enter
  Note: Replace letter e with the drive letter of your flash drive.
• The tool will start to run.
• When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
• Press Scan button.
• It will make a log (FRST.txt) on the flash drive. Please copy and paste it to your reply.

Okay, I cannot figure out how to download this to a flashdrive. I have never used one before. Also, please bear with me as I am on the road at the moment. I will be on the road this weekend and leaving from Maryland on Tuesday morning to head back to Colorado. It's a three day drive and I do not want to use the WiFi in the motels to do this on the way back. I had trouble downloading the file, but downloaded it as a cache file. Does this make a difference?

Okay, once I restarted the computer, it took 45 minutes to get here. I wanted to ask you, the other day when I shut my computer down I had a message that said other people were still logged on, do you still want to shut down. Would that be the other user accounts on here, or "someone" else?

You must have some other than malware problems.
