Apple introduces 'The new iPad', available starting March 16

That resolution is insane. I was hoping for an e-ink / lcd hybrid so it looks like real printed material or switching mode for reading outdoors. But this high resolution is really good, too.

I'm a desktop PC gamer. However, I still follow trends in other industries. Mobile, specifically smartphone and tablet markets will explode in the next 4-5 years. There are plenty of forecasts done by Gartner and IDC. Current sales trends in the last 1-2 years are only showing that these forecasts are too conservative.

"Tablet computers will see an explosion in sales over the next four years, selling 60% as many units as PCs by 2015 – and Apple's iPad will still have almost half the market by then, says the research group Gartner in a bullish forecast. In 2010 around 347 Million PCs were shipped, and just 17 Million tablets – almost all iPads. For 2015, Milanesi forecasts that Apple will sell 148m iPads, out of a total of 326m, while "media tablets" using Microsoft's new Windows 8 operating system..."

"USA Today has obtained a statement from Apple explaining that although the initial stock of the New Ipad has been snapped up, the pre-order process is still open. It reads: "Customer response to the new iPad has been off the charts and the quantity available for pre-order has been purchased."

The tablet craze continues. Apple stock is going to $600.
