We’re just over a week removed from Apple’s iPhone 6 / iPhone 6 Plus / Apple Watch announcement. The hands of time stop for no one, however, as the latest scuttlebutt claims the Cupertino-based company is planning to hold its next media event on October 21.

On that day, Apple will unveil a pair of new iPads and announce the release date of OS X Yosemite. The successor to the iPad Air will be the sixth full-size tablet from Apple since April 2010. The new iPad mini, meanwhile, will be the third of its kind since debuting in November 2010.

Apple first unveiled OS X Yosemite during its annual developer conference this past June. The operating system was made available that day for developers. A public beta kicked off on July 24 and it has remained in public beta ever since. The final release will be free of charge just as Mavericks was before it.

If the October 21 date is accurate (some are already questioning its validity), it’d be one day short of a full year since Apple announced the iPad Air and the iPad mini with Retina display. As is the norm with Apple, those devices went on sale less than two weeks later on Friday, November 1. That means we could expect to see this year’s new iPad lineup hit stores on Halloween day – Friday, October 31.

Time to set a camping tent by the shop? But what if it doesn't come out? What if it's a 10" iPhone 6 Plus-Plus?

Yes it been about 9 months, time to make all current owners feel inferior if they don't upgrade.

And don't laugh, this is a genuine Apple sales strategy.

Which is no different from anyone else, it is a business strategy. One of which every big business strives for. It is called planned obsolescent which keeps people spending money. As long as the company only wants you to think you need an upgrade, I don't have a problem with that.
