Apple's new Mac Pro available as of tomorrow starting at $2,999

To all the haters. Have you actually go through the components to see how much they cost from a store like amazon?
And those saying its an ashtray, they managed to build those components in such a small factor with noise reduction (im still wating on that though), and that's what you come up with? An ashtray? Lol seriously try harder.

For the components inside and the form factor, the price is actually ok.
And no, I don't own any mac. I just like to see a company trying to do something unique (given that its good and functional) .

Well, the parts they use are about 1-2 years out of date. They then want an extra £700 for 4GB of RAM and 1GB of Vram per card. That, on a custom built computer may JUST about set you back £200, if you buy the first thing you see.

Oh yes, and the parts themselves (minus the pretentious looking case and incapable power supply) would come out at not even half that price.

Hold on, I'm going on PCPartPicker.

Just a few notes. The 4930k is more powerful than Apple's E5 Xeon.

This. Will. DESTROY the Mac Pro. More upgradable. Probably quieter. More powerful. More efficient. Better looking. Better warranties. Better range of software.

A brand new vacuum cleaner. Cool. I need one to suck up all the cat and dog hair in my room.

Think about the performance boost you get if you submerge that into oil and cool it to -200 degree. Over clock it to 10 ghz!

I did check actually and a very quick run through put it at around $500 less than Apple, that is with some parts being better like the GPU since the W7000 has more RAM than their version and the MB being dual CPU and 3 PCIe x16 slots since I couldn't find a good one that is single slot and dual PCIe x16. I am sure if I tried for more than 5 minutes I could do even better. I will say it took more than one store to get the parts, but overall not difficult.

Apple has always been expensive. Seems like putting an Apple on the back of the device makes it worth at least double the amount it should. All apple users know that but they accept those prices because the OS just works better for them and I can't blame them...

Making it sound as if that could be done and only with this setup. Good luck getting the temperature that low and the clock speed that high, regardless of cooling methods. I kinda doubt you would be taking the risk after paying Apple's premium. Especially when the same could be done, without purchasing into this case design.

You probably couldnt get it stable at 10GHZ with friggin liquid nitrogen, let alone mineral oil.
