As release approaches, is Apple Watch on your radar?

Why waste so much money? The cost of the stainless steel version is about the same as a pretty good camera. At the moment cameras are on my radar as I generally take photos every day and my current camera is showing its age.
If you're in the market for Nikon DSLR equipment, check out : http://www.adorama.com/

They've had some amazing deals on refurbished, (by Nikon USA), cameras, with and without lenses.

Here's a D3100 with TWO(!) lens for $339.00, or 60 bucks less than this stinking watch. With free shipping, no less. http://www.adorama.com/INKD3100K4R.html

Don't tarry, these deals don't last forever.

Heck yes. I like the idea of not having to keep pulling my phone out of my pocket to see if it's an important message. I wish the price is lower, but like the iphones, I know it holds value so it would be a good investment.

Aw, too much trouble to pull that big heavy iPhone out of your pocket to check on a call? If I were that abundantly lazy, I'd be too embarrassed to advertise it on the web..

Besides, it easy for a device to, "hold its value", when it was never worth the price someone was willing to pay for it in the first place....:D

It follows if the initial price was too high, then the trade in is overvalued commensurate with the original retail price.

No, but they will sell millions of them.
/WP user and not a hater like some of these Fandroids
Not me. I think that cell phone addition should be declared a genuine medical affliction. Something on the order of, "cell phone drool".

I have absolutely no need for a smart phone, and hence I won't be buying for the purpose of increasing my perceived social status.

Thanks but not much use to me as I am based in the UK. I am thinking of getting a camera from John Lewis as they give a free two year guarantee and I can get a discount on the price.

Product searching for a reason to exist....
Wonder if it defaults to apple logo-Then the
Look at me-Look at me-Look at me generation
can wander with outstretched arm

I won't get an Apple Watch, but I'll be reading the reviews to see if it does anything to advance the field. A tech watch is something that I find mildly interesting, and would consider owning, so I think that Apple's take would be interesting.

Underpowered CPU, limited memory, inconvenient human interface...price point $39.95...then discounted. I'd rather have a Pipboy 3000.
OK, thanks for the link, that was 2 minutes of my life I'll never get back, nor will I ever be able to un-see it.

If your point was,"$39.95 is still too much for an Apple watch", you're probably correct.

OTOH,. as long as the Apple watch was guaranteed to withstand the same depth underwater, as an equivalent 40 buck Timex, I might consider it.

(Not that I've ever, in my entire life, gone scuba diving).

And speaking of Timex, when is Apple ever going to rip off the old, "Timex, takes a licking and keeps on ticking", commercial series?

In one commercial, a Timex was strapped to the propeller of an outboard motor, and run in a 55 gallon drum full of water. What was the result, you ask? Of course the Timex was still running perfectly, thereby earning its sea legs! Was there ever any doubt? Hell no!

Since an Apple watch doesn't do much of anything anyway, I fail to see where there would be any jeopardy in strapping it to the same test rig.

It didn't do anything when it went it, and it doesn't do anything when it came out either. Mission accomplished, I'll take two!

Perhaps the more convincing would be to strap the old Timex on the private parts of a bull elephant during mating season and see how it comes out at the end? I pitty the poor fellow that has to unstrap it .... it certainly won't be John Camron Swasey!

Or Steve Jobs....;)

Nope, and nope to none of the current FIRST GENERATION of so called smart watches. Maybe the 2nd or 3rd generation will have battery life and a better price. Having to recharge a watch every 16-18 hours (more likely every 6-8 hours). I'm not spending THAT amount of money, on ANY watch that at the very least can't last a 24 hour period with moderate use. Until then, I'll stick with my "dumb" casio wave-ceptor atomic time keeping watch.

I have a Casio knockoff, Timex "Iron Man" sort of sport watch. Of course I rarely wear it, and never use the light or the alarm. But, I just checked, and it's keeping reasonably good time, with the OEM battery, which has been in it for 17 years!

And that boys and girls, is why I never, ever, want a "smart watch".

Ummm, let me think on this....

1. Do I need one? Nope
2. Do I want one? Nope
3. Will I regret not having one? Nope

Not interested at all for having any kind of Smart watch. I prefer watches that have classic style to it. Has to be analog and not connected any way to any other thing (internet/phone/etc), except my wrist.

For anyone who didn't know...they came out with "Smart Watches" years ago. I paid $35 for mine, which displayed text messages, facebook & twitter notifications, incoming calls, the weather, and could be customized as well.

YEARS later Apple comes out with one and as usual adds a 0 to the price tag to put their logo on it and claims it's new technology...trash.

I'm saving for a 911. The $10,000 it costs for a top of the line Apple watch would much better spent optioning that car with an additional cup holder.

You can get an M1911 for much less than this $10k watch, then you could simply shoot those with the watch and slowly accumulate your own collection of gawd awful watches! And you have a pretty awesome pistol too, I think it's a win win.

An M1911 would be a worthy use of the excess capital. Pair it with an M16 (love that gun) and you've got ten times the value at a fraction of the cost.
